I enjoyed the song but disagree with the "this would never get made today" sentiment. There's so much music out there. I'm positive we can find similar stuffs being made today, Fedi friends. If you've got an example to share, post it in the comments 🙏

@mosspiglet I disagree. I think too much talent has gone into software or finance and there are more outlets and it is easier to publish so dilution is the issue not lack of talent
@humanhorseshoes@mastodon.world how much music do you listen to on the regular? New music? I'm still finding loads of new artists to enjoy. Carsie Blanton, The Kind Hills, Never the Bridle, Seasonal Falls, fuvk, Little Systems, The Shining Tongues—just to name a few I discovered in 2026. There's a fuck-ton of stuff out there, yeah, and all the GenAI slop is making it more difficult to sort through the bin, sure, but there are still many, many fantastically creative human beings making kick-ass art. Always will be, until we're all dust.
@humanhorseshoes@mastodon.world Carsie Blanton was the first to come to mind when I was trying to think of something the most similar—in spirit, at least—to the OP's share. Not a match for style, though. Folksy, yeah, but not that janglepop stuffs. Some of the other artists I listed do fall into that category, but don't have the same sort of spirit in lyrics.
I'm gonna be on the lookout for janglepop tunes with punk soul, though. I'm bookmarking this thread to share here when I find them.
