Close-up of white wild cherry blossoms on a branch with fresh green leaves against a pale blue sky. Multiple delicate flowers with five petals each are visible, with prominent stamens in the center. The shallow depth of field creates a soft, blurred background.

A small white crab spider camouflaged among the petals of a white wild cherry flower. The spider is positioned on one of the lower hanging blooms, nearly blending in with the white petals. A small black insect (possibly a fly or bee) is visible nearby on the flower. Green leaves and additional blossoms surround the scene with a soft, out-of-focus grassy background.

Can you spot the white Misumena vatia in these photos?

Close-up photo of a west coast lace weaver spider resting on a weathered wooden stake in a garden. The spider has glossy reddish-orange legs and head, and a large, rounded, silvery-grey abdomen held upright. Green foliage blurs softly in the background.

Spider season started early on the Olympic Peninsula this year. Walking into webs every which way I go isn't my favorite thing in the world, but I do love the opportunity to photograph some cool arachnids. This particular spider is Callobius severus. My partner saved her from drowning, and I captured a bazillion photos while she recovered in the sun.
