Dry forest streambed floored with grey cobbles, scattered with fallen yellow and brown leaves and thin twigs. A moss-covered log angles in from the lower left; behind it a large, bare, cracked grey log lies across the channel, forming a low arch over the dry bed, with a darker log and broken branches beneath. Steep fern- and shrub-covered banks rise on both sides; dense green canopy frames a strip of pale overcast sky. Low wide-angle view.

Low-angle view of a dry streambed of grey river rock dotted with yellow leaves. Two huge barkless, silvered and cracked logs lie nearly parallel across the channel, forming a rough arch; a broken branch stub juts up from the nearer trunk, and a dark waterlogged log sits below with a hooked root. Bright green grass and shrubs show through the gap beyond, dense forest on both banks, flat white sky overhead.

A neighbor tells me that he's lived here since he was a child, and in all that time the creek only started going dry a few summers ago ๐Ÿ˜ข

It was cool, though, to walk up the creek a ways to see parts of the forest the water had kept from me.

@mosspiglet @photography @nature It's beautiful. I'd love to see water running through it again, of course.
