Somewhere out there, there's a person my age, with a similar personal history, who is convinced, as I am, that our world is barreling toward a fiery end because a small subset of the human population that is greedy, selfish, and cruel has engineered the systems of our global civilization to give them outsized power and influence, and they are using that power and influence to exploit the rest of us in order to extract every natural resource and every ounce of value we create for their own enrichment to the point of death for the rest of us.

I think that subset of greedy, selfish, and cruel people are the fascist billionaires, authoritarians, and theocrats who have bestowed upon themselves ownership of all things.

This other person out there thinks that subset of people are Jews—or brown and black people, or immigrants, or godless liberals.

This other person's belief is as unshakeable as my own.

I don't know what to do with that.

It sure as fuck makes things seem hopeless sometimes.
